Hello, I’m Liz Fava
I’m Liz Fava, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Atlanta, GA (and self-described “Relationship Therapist”).
My passion is for seeing individuals and couples establish and restore healthy relationships, and helping people live their lives to the fullest.
I do that through a variety of approaches. I’m holistic, looking at all aspects of your life: mind, body and spirit. I’m trained in the Gottman Method for working with couples, an approach that is research driven and scientifically based for how to make relationships work. I am a Certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator, the #1 assessment tool for premarital counseling. I also am trained in Brainspotting, a type of therapy effective at treating trauma and anxiety. I’m eclectic, drawing from years of my own clinical training, graduate work, and experience. I’m a learner, continuing to research and attend trainings, and “geek-out” on resources to enhance my therapy skills.
Another thing you need to know about me?
I truly believe your life and your relationships can get better! It will take work, and some time, but it ABSOLUTELY is possible, and I’m here to help you make that happen.
I view my work with clients as being very collaborative. I believe you bring a lot to the table already, and I want to walk with you through this process.
My clients appreciate that I offer a ton of support and make them feel safe in therapy, yet don’t shy away from giving direct feedback and ideas, or challenging a thought or belief that might be getting in the way of progress. I like to hear about your relationships, past and present, believing that they hold many keys to your breakthroughs. I’ll provide tools and strategies as needed, and perhaps a book recommendation… or two.
As an avid world traveler, I enjoy working with clients from many different cultural and religious backgrounds. However, as a Christian myself, I specialize in counseling from a Christian perspective. I encourage and welcome my clients to discuss their beliefs in whatever way they are comfortable
