Hi, I’m Dr. Avery Campbell.

We all experience times when we feel stuck in our lives. No matter how much we want to make positive changes within ourselves and relationships, it can sometimes feel that we are trying to move forward against a brick wall. Whether you are struggling with anxiety about the future, sadness or guilt about the past, or confusion on how to navigate the present, therapy should be a space where you are met with compassion, genuine curiosity, and support – exactly as you are and without judgment.

I became a therapist because I am passionate about creating spaces where people can experience deeply meaningful healing, growth, and empowerment.

In brief, I provide therapy to individuals and couples who are hoping to get unstuck. With warmth, humor, and careful attention, my goal is to help you unravel the patterns that keep you in this space. Together, we “zoom out” to identify what needs to change and then equip you with the skills and strengths needed to make those changes happen. While I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life and relationships, I use my professional knowledge to help you connect with new and familiar skills and resources—both internal and external—so you can live in alignment to your most authentic needs and values.

To achieve this, I use a mixture of approaches like Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and tenets of the Gottman Method, among other systemic therapeutic models. No matter what, I always aim to help you feel clarity around where you fit into your surroundings and how your environment informs your current experience.

I work with adult individuals and couples who are struggling with a wide array of challenges – like anxiety, depression, trauma, communication problems, relationship issues, stressful life changes – at various life and relationship stages. Additionally, I have a particular passion for working with individuals impacted by traumatic stress and members of the first responder community.

Traumatic Stress

Living with traumatic stress can make you feel like you’re living in black and white while everyone around you is experiencing life in color. I believe that everyone who has experienced trauma can, and deserves to, be free from the dark shadow traumatic stress can cast over their life. My training in working with individuals who have experienced traumatic events allows me to create a compassionate space for you to process how these past events impact your current wellbeing. Using my understanding of how trauma affects the brain, I work with you to decrease the impact that past trauma has on your current life and relationships.

First Responder Individuals, Couples, and Families

Growing up as the daughter of a first responder, I have a personal understanding of the unique challenges associated with the high-stress lifestyle of first responder professions. I am deeply passionate about improving the mental and relational health of the first responder community, believing that strong couple and family relationships are the key to enhancing overall wellbeing for first responders. If you are a first responder or first responder couple, I aim to help you navigate the complex ways in which job-related stressors impact your individual and/or relational well-being. Drawing from my personal experience, clinical training, and years of research on first responder couples and families, my goal is to help you find a new path forward through the unique challenges presented by the profession.

I am currently under the direct supervision of Liz Fava (LPC, CPCS) while I pursue full licensure.
