Dating Couples Counseling in Atlanta Can Give You Clarity and Confidence
It’s normal to feel unsure at times in dating. What matters is how you and your partner approach those challenges. Working with a couples therapist helps you both slow down, communicate clearly, and discover what’s best for your relationship.
At Fava Counseling Associates, we create a safe, supportive space where dating couples can explore their relationship openly, without judgment or pressure. We give you tools to improve your communication and improve the ways you handle conflict, and help you have the conversations you need to have in a warm and supportive environment.
As hard as it is to hear, sometimes we know the best outcome for a dating relationship is feeling clear that it’s time to end it. If that’s the case, your therapist will help you discuss your decision in a safe and calm way, and explore how best to un-couple.
How Does Dating Couples Counseling Work?
How Does Dating Couples Counseling Work?
At Fava Counseling Associates, we offer therapy for dating couples both in person at our Atlanta office and virtually across Georgia.
Typically dating couples attend sessions together, and work with our Atlanta Couples Counselors to build tools for improving communication and resolving conflict, while also discussing many of the topics couples need to cover while in the dating phase.
Sometimes dating couples counseling can be similar to premarital counseling. Dating couples may be encouraged to take a couples assessment online (many of our therapists use and recommend Prepare-Enrich) that gives detailed information about each person’s personality, as well as highlighting strength and growth areas of the relationship. An assessment like Prepare-Enrich also can serve as a guide for topics to discuss, making sure dating couples are having the right conversations they need in order to move the relationship forward or make important changes.

What is Dating Couples Counseling?
It’s a type of therapy designed specifically for couples who are dating but not yet engaged or married. It focuses on improving communication, resolving conflict, and helping you gain clarity about your relationship’s future.
How does Dating Couples Counseling Work?
You and your partner meet with a licensed couples therapist who guides conversations, teaches evidence-based tools, and helps you explore your relationship in a supportive space. The counselor may recommend a relationship assessment like Prepare-Enrich or Gottman Couples Check Up to provide a guide for the sessions. Your counselor will give specific recommendations during your first session once they learn more about what you are needing.
When is Dating Couples Counseling Needed?
If you’re struggling with communication, navigating conflicts, or feeling unsure about your future together, counseling can help. It’s not just for couples in crisis, it’s also for those who want to strengthen their bond.
How Much Does Dating Couples Counseling Cost?
Our rates vary depending on your therapist. We’ll walk you through options and provide superbills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement if needed.
How Long Does The Counseling Process Take?
It depends on your goals. Some dating couples come for a few months to improve communication, while others stay longer to explore deeper patterns and prepare for the future. Generally we recommend couples come for a minimum of 6 sessions. Couples can set specific goals and get a more specific timeline from their dating counselor once counseling gets started.
How Do I Know If Dating Couples Counseling is Right For Me?
If you and your partner want to grow closer, improve your relationship, or gain clarity about the next steps in your journey, counseling is a great place to start.
